An Evaluation of the Antioxidant Activity of a Methanolic Extract of Cucumis melo L. Fruit (F1 Hybrid)

Cucumis melo L. (C. melo) is a fruit with many medicinal properties and consumed in various countries. It utilised for chronic eczema to treat minor burns scrapes. The present study was conducted evaluate the antioxidant activity of methanolic extract Linn (MECM). A coarse powder prepared from seeds extracted methanol (absolute) by hot continuous percolation process accordance standard protocols. All extracts were estimated potential activities tests such as an estimation total activity, hydroxyl radical nitric oxide scavenging reducing power ability. qualitative analysis C. showed presence phytochemical constituents carbohydrates, alkaloids, sterols, phenolic compounds, terpenes flavonoids. concentrations 50, 100 200 µg tested observed be 3.3 ± 0.1732, 6.867 0.5457 13.63 0.8295 ascorbic acid, respectively. results also significant DPPH well MECM. Thus, our suggest that MECM may serve putative source natural antioxidants therapeutic nutraceutical applications.
